Crystal Charity is currently teaching Modern World History and Ethnic Studies. Originally from Sacramento, she has a bachelor's degree in Human Development with a minor in Middle East/South Asia Studies from UC Davis. After graduating, she moved to Oakland where she worked for several educational non-profits in East Oakland and subbed all over the East Bay. Through these experiences, she has a background in restorative justice and English Language Learner (ELL) support. Ms. Charity chose to teach history because she wants to highlight stories of oppressed groups in this country and around the world; she is particularly interested in tracing social movements and acts of resistance. Ultimately, her goal is to challenge her students to be inquisitive, empathetic community members, while empowering them to find their own academic voices.
