Media Art Advisory (Introduction to Media Arts)
This course builds a foundation in film production and editing, photography, computer skills, and live event production, as well as foundational knowledge in media business practices. Coursework will focus on particular careers in the multimedia and communications workforce. Instruction will focus on the interaction between media sources in live, recorded, and web-based productions. Genre studies and media studies are explored in depth. Students participate in select projects with upper level students, begin their digital portfolios, and have an opportunity to present their work in Digital Media exhibitions.

Graphic Design (Introduction)
This course provides students with a foundational understanding of digital design, tools, processes and systems common to careers in graphic arts and digital production. Exploration topics include printing enterprise, art and copy preparation, graphic design, image generation and assembly, production photography, graphic reproduction operations, printing, and digital production. Drawing skills are developed to accompany original graphic design abilities. Students have an opportunity to present their work in Media Art exhibitions.

 

Media Art Concepts II
This course builds on competencies in film production and editing (narrative and documentary), computer and project networking skills, and live event production, media business regulations and practices, as well as foundational knowledge in production design. Coursework will focus on particular careers in the multimedia and communications workforce. Genre studies and media studies are explored in depth. Coursework will deepen specific skills in computer design, film and video production, lighting, sound, and projection design, and print media design. Students will typically take Media Art Media Concepts II for their 10th and 11th grade years, building their portfolios in preparation for a content specific Capstone course.

Graphic Design II (Concentration) 
This course provides students with an in depth experience with digital design tools, processes and systems common to careers in graphic arts and digital production. Career examination and skill building include leadership in art and copy preparation, graphic design, image generation and assembly, production photography, graphic reproduction operations, binding and/or finishing related to digital imaging, printing, and digital production. Students will also be introduced to critical ways of viewing and creating mass-produced images. Drawing skills are developed and reinforced to accompany original graphic design abilities. Students present their work in Media Art exhibitions.

 

Media Art Concepts III (Media Arts Capstone)
This capstone course in the Media Arts sequence applies learning from Introductory and Concentration Media Arts in a project based environment. Course work will focus on film and photography production, extended media, and live production in both the educational and work based setting. Instruction will focus on applying student knowledge of film and video production, lighting, sound and projection design, in industry environments. Students will create media arts products that demonstrate entry level workforce skills and comprehensive knowledge of industry practices. Students expand their knowledge of digital artists on a local and global scale, and make efforts to reach out and collaborate with them, creating meaningful career connections. Students will secure an internship in this or the Graphic Design pathway to reinforce their approach to career readiness in this area. 

Graphic Design III (Capstone)
This capstone course supports students in approaching a professional level use of digital design tools, processes and systems common to careers in graphic arts and digital production. Students will lead production teams to achieve unit and project goals in a pre-professional setting, taking on responsibility for project outcomes. Students will also secure an internship in this or the Media Arts pathway to reinforce their approach to career readiness in this area. Students expand their knowledge of digital artists on a local and global scale, and make efforts to reach out and collaborate with them, creating meaningful career connections. Students present their work in Media Art exhibitions.

 

Media Art Production (Studio Class)
This course is designed to provide a guided studio environment for students to complete the various projects in the Media Art program. This class will also be used for reflection and assessment of CTE competencies, the development of critique skills, and formal critique for assessment in a variety of settings and groups.
