Breaking News: For the first time in years, Dance students perform and accompany Vocal Music and Orchestral Music students at the Fox Theater.......
Student artists and the arts faculty have been so busy in preparation and rehearsals for an
all-school arts showcase at @foxoakland on April 29.

It’s going to be a spectacular show and is also the first time we are returning to the big stage with an all-school show since before the pandemic! All 10 arts pathways will be represented (Vocal, Instrumental, Theatre, Dance, Visual Art, Media Arts, Fashion, Production Design, Audio Production and Engineering, and Literary Arts). So much collaboration between art forms is happening.

We’re also introducing the Oakland Artist Impact Awards at the event as we celebrate the arts in Oakland.

We love it when students from different arts pathways get to collaborate. So we’re excited for the first performance in our Metamorphosis show on April 29 – a piece from Carmina Burana.

This is the first time in years that Vocal Music and Orchestral students have had the opportunity to perform music together. On the Fox Theater stage they will also be accompanied by students from Dance.

A highlight of our rehearsal process was bringing the orchestra and choir to the dance studio to see the choreography created for this number.

Watch til the end for the enthusiastic reaction — seeing the joy on the students’ faces was an incredible moment for us!

OSA's School of Dance is proud to congratulate Dance Senior, Mia Ortega, on her acceptances to the following schools so far:

  • Chapman University, with a 4-year $80,000 Dean's Scholarship, a merit scholarship awarded to only a small handful of students
  • LINES/Domincan University BFA program, with a $25,000 per year Scholarship
  • Ailey/Fordham BFA Program--This is a very competitive and difficult program to get into! You have to be on your A-game Academically and Artistically!

Congratulations, Mia! We are so proud of all your accomplishments! It has been a pleasure and an honor to watch and be a part of your growth and journey from the 6th grade through your Senior year!
